Hi all, and happy Bonfire Night,
I put up several bets at the Cheltenham October meeting but didn't manage to get a winner and went 8 1/2 points down! However in the Charlie Hall I put up State of Play and got a winner at 3 points (largest advised bet so far this season 0 to 5 points is the range) to 3/1 to nearly put the account back into balance and have put up both Tatenen and Jered ante post for the festival who have both shortened and can be traded out for a free bet. I have also put up Albertas Run at 20/1 and that is now 25/1 after a poor run first time out, but I did not expect him to beat Tiday Bay and if he drifts to 33/1 I will be going in again (personally - I will not be advising it again on the account as 2 points is the maximum bet ante post up to christmas).
I have really found it helpful to have a staking range of 0 to 5 points as previously, betting personally (without necessarily being too conscious about it), I would stake according to how well I was doing at the time. Now with 5 points being a single bet which I would expect 2 or 3 times a season; a 4 point single bet I would expect once a month and at 3 points I would expect 2 to 3 bets a month; has been really helpful in deciding the size of stake.
The season is starting to shape up and the Open meeting is now just a fortnight away and I will be working pretty much full time reviewing this meeting to ensure I can put the account firmly into profit.
Good Luck to everyone and talk soon.
Adrian
